Urban Centers Forum — September 25 (Virtual)

The 2025 Urban Centers Forum highlighted Active Transportation Plans and Bike Parks — including what they are, how they can be funded, and local examples of completed projects.

The event was led by CCPC's Senior Urban Planner, Kevin Myers, with remarks from the Chester County Commissioners. Mark Gallant, CCPC's Senior Community Planner, shared an overview about Active Transportation Plans, followed by Lisa Palser of Elverson Borough who talked about the Elverson Active Transportation Plan.

Next, Kevin shared an overview about Bike Parks, followed by local examples from Christina Norland — Kennett Bike Park (pump track); Christian Weirich — Phoenixville Bike Park (skills park); and Justin Horrocks — Elverson Bike Park (skate park/pump track).

Fall Events

Open Space Summit — November 13 (In-person & Virtual)

CCPC and Chester County Parks + Preservation hosted the 2025 Open Space Summit, providing a deep dive into how open space happens in Chester County.

The first part of the Summit opened with Dave Stauffer, Chester County Parks + Preservation's Director, and a welcome from the Chester County Commissioners. Ryan Mawhinney, CCPC's Sustainability Planner, then shared some history of open space preservation in Chester County.

The second part of the Summit included presentations about tools and policies for open space preservation, including:

The last part of the Summit featured two Case Studies — one being Crebilly Farm in Westtown Township, presented by Todd Sampsell and Jack Stefferud of Natural Lands, and the other being preserved land on Ground Hog College Rd. in West Bradford, presented by John Goodall of Brandywine Conservancy and Justin Yaich of West Bradford Township.

The event was well attended both in-person and virtually.

Transportation Summit — November 19 (Virtual)

The final fall event was CCPC's annual Transportation Summit. This year's Summit included updates on various transportation initiatives and was led by CCPC's Multimodal Transportation Planning Director, Brian Styche.

The presentations included an overview of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by Richard Murphy Jr. of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission; an overview of the Chester County Bridge Management Program by Eric Quinn of Chester County Facilities; and updates from CCPC's Multimodal Transportation Planning Division on Public Transportation — Alex Sankaran, Major Roadway Project Status — Patty Quinn, and Trail Development Status — Steve Buck.
